SONSA Monthly Bulletin: April 2025 Highlights – Advancing Peace, Governance, and Digital Inclusion in Somalia

The April 2025 SONSA Bulletin highlights the Somali civil society’s dynamic efforts in promoting peace, governance, and digital transformation. SONSA actively participated in the PCVE Coordination Working Group meeting, reinforcing collaboration to counter violent extremism, and joined regional calls for inclusive peace dialogue in South Sudan. The organization supported Somalia’s democratic progress by engaging in the national voter registration campaign ahead of local council elections.

Capacity-building initiatives took center stage, with SONSA conducting trainings for journalists on governance reporting and parliamentary staff on digital archiving and oversight to enhance transparency. The month also celebrated advancements in digital inclusion, including Starlink’s licensing in Somalia and SONSA’s advocacy for girls in ICT, showcased during National Girls in ICT Day events.

Additionally, SONSA contributed to critical discussions on judicial independence and good governance, emphasizing reforms for an accountable judiciary. These collective efforts underscore SONSA’s commitment to fostering resilience, inclusivity, and sustainable development across Somalia, aligning with both national priorities and regional peacebuilding goals.
