The Somali Civil Society SONSA Platform held an urgent meeting today to address major challenges facing the country, including the stalled political dialogue between the Federal Government and the Salvation Council, and rising tensions over public land disputes. SONSA represents a broad coalition of civil society organizations committed to promoting peace, unity, and sustainable development across Somalia.

The platform expresses deep concern over the lack of progress in talks meant to resolve political disagreements that are currently undermining public trust and delaying Somalia’s state-building efforts. SONSA calls on both parties to promptly resume dialogue and make necessary compromises, prioritizing the country’s best interests.

SONSA is also alarmed by conflicts arising from public land issues and urges the government to establish a clear, fair, and well-planned land policy. This policy should protect residents’ rights and foster mutual trust between citizens and the government.
