August 2025 Bulletin: Somali Civil Society SONSA’s Role in Governance, Human Rights, and Civic Engagement

Somalia Civil Society SONSA has just released the Monthly August Bulletin 2025, which documents the coalition’s major advocacy initiatives, civic engagements, and contributions at both national and regional levels. The bulletin reflects SONSA’s continued role in defending constitutional freedoms, promoting inclusive governance, and amplifying citizen voices in Somalia’s democratic process.

During the month, SONSA actively responded to key national issues, including condemning unlawful arrests of journalists and community leaders, urging the resumption of political dialogue, and calling for a transparent and fair land policy. The bulletin also covers SONSA’s participation in forums on constitutional review, humanitarian action, youth empowerment, climate change, data protection, and regional cooperation under IGAD. These activities underline SONSA’s commitment to accountability, transparency, and building resilience across Somali society.

In addition, the bulletin highlights SONSA’s work to strengthen institutions and empower future leaders through capacity-building for parliamentary staff, digitalization support to the Federal Parliament, and training for student interns. SONSA’s engagements with development partners, research institutions, and international organizations further demonstrate its dedication to fostering collaboration for sustainable peace, inclusive governance, and long-term progress in Somalia.
