The September 2025 edition of the Somali Civil Society Bulletin, produced by Somali Non-State Actors (SONSA), highlights a month of extensive civic engagement across Somalia and beyond. Key features include civil society’s organizing in constitutional review dialogues, national reconciliation, and engaging the launching of rural development strategies, as well as cont ributions to Somalia’s National Transformation Plan. The bulletin also covers SONSA’s role in advancing digital rights, hosting inclusive workshops on social media governance and disability inclusion, and leading calls for stronger cybersecurity and data protection frameworks at the #FIFAfrica 2025 forum in Namibia.
Throughout September, Somali civil society marked international days of peace and access to information, reinforced its role in parliamentary oversight both nationally and regionally Parliamentary Group in South Africa, Pan African Parliament, and joined over 400 delegates at the East African Civil Society Summit in Nairobi as Somali chapter. Collectively, these engagements underscore SONSA’s commitment to inclusive governance, accountability, transparency, and people-centered development at national, regional, and continental levels.
